A place in which to reflect and think. A red bench to raise public awareness about violence against women and prevent it from happening. This is the gift that Caffè Aiello, the coffee company which turns 50 this year, has decided to donate to the city of Cosenza, as part of the initiative promoted by the Press Club of the Calabrian city, in memory of all the women who have been victims of femicide. The donation was made on November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
“We hope that by placing this red bench in the city center, we will make people stop and think. It will certainly be a place where they can have a rest and, looking up, enjoy the beauty of the city – explains Emilio Aiello, President of Caffé Aiello srl – Beauty can save us from all forms of violence, even the most terrible kind which is that perpetrated towards women”.
Located between Corso Mazzini and Piazza Bilotti in Cosenza, above all, the red bench of Caffè Aiello remembers Maria Rosaria Sessa, the 27-year-old journalist from Calabria who was killed in 2002 by her ex-boyfriend. The Press Club of Cosenza is named after this talented reporter.
