A huge success for Caffè Aiello at International Coffee Tasting 2019, the most prestigious international competition that rewards the best coffees in the world. Thirty professional tasters assigned a gold medal to the 100% Arabica blend (vacuum-sealed ground coffee) in the “Moka” category and the 100% certified Organic Arabica capsules (Nespresso-compatible) in the “single dose” category.
The 2019 edition of International Coffee Tasting was held on 10 and 11 December in Tokyo, with 289 products from all over the world in the running for the prestigious titles on offer. The coffees were served to the judges anonymously: the samples were analysed during blind tasting sessions, as stressed by the organisers, in compliance with the standards of sensory analysis.
International Coffee Tasting: the organiser
The event was organised by the International Institute for Coffee Tasters (Iiac in Italian), an independent, non-profit scientific organisation. Active since 1993, it is the common link uniting a wide network of almost 12,000 professionals from more than forty countries worldwide.
The accolades awarded were proof of the winning Italian coffees’ ability to comply with the current international trends. Luigi Odello, president of the International Institute of Coffee Tasters (Iiac), commented on the result of the contest:
“The world of coffee is, by its very nature, a globalised one, and today it presents a wide range of very distinctive taste trends on an international level. For years now, we have been witnessing a market that rightly favours products with delicate, complex aromas, often without losing sight of the product’s density, a highly significant characteristic for espresso”.
